Reflecting on a year that was.

As the year draws to a close, it’s only natural to reflect on the journey we’ve undertaken in the past 12 months and the year in review so to speak.  Each year brings its own set of challenges, growth, and resilience. In this article, we’ll take a moment to look back at the highlights, lessons learned, self-reflection and the promise of the future as we bid farewell to another year.

1. Personal Growth and Self-Discovery

One of the most significant aspects of any year’s end is the opportunity for personal reflection. It’s a chance to consider how we’ve evolved and grown as individuals. Whether you’ve achieved personal goals, overcome obstacles, or embarked on a journey of self-discovery, take a moment to celebrate your progress and resilience.

This year many of us faced personal challenges, and yet, we persevered. We learned new skills, adapted to changing circumstances, and discovered strength we never knew we had. As we close the chapter on this year, let’s carry these lessons forward into the future. Do have a look at some fabulous recorded webinars available on www.icb.org.za/cpd/ which cover finance topics, and personal growth.

2. Celebrating Achievements

Amidst the challenges, there were also moments of celebration. Take a moment to recognize your achievements, no matter how small they may seem. Whether it’s a personal milestone, a professional success, or a new hobby you picked up, these moments deserve to be acknowledged and celebrated.

One may ask how to stay focussed on your goals?

It’s been said to stay in a “state of Flow” – you may ask what does that mean? But sometimes staying in your pathway to success needs constant hard work and practice, practice, practice.

Flow is more than just concentrating or paying attention: it’s a unique mental state of effortless engagement.  And those that experience flow report higher levels of positive emotions, creativity and feelings of accomplishment.

This requires focus and then the flow.  Have a look at this Ted Talk to explain it best.

1. Answer the hopes and dreams you had planned for this year

Evaluate whether these were realized, what rolls over to the new year, what new goals are being included. What steps do you have in place to make your dreams a reality?  And what goals do you need to keep in your “Flow State” to keep working on and practicing?

2. Let’s do a round up of the most popular blogs this year.

While we are busy with the year in review, let’s have a look at our most popular blogs for the past year and see what we can re-evaluate and pop into our goal setting for the new year.

As we bid farewell to the year, we can’t help but look forward to the future. The coming year holds the promise of new opportunities, fresh challenges, and the chance to continue growing and evolving. It’s a time to set goals, make plans, and envision the kind of year we want to create.

In closing, let’s remember that the end of the year is not just about saying goodbye to the past but also about welcoming the future with open arms and hopeful hearts. As we step into the new year,  may we carry the lessons and experiences of past year/s with us, and may we embrace the journey ahead with optimism and determination.

The end of the year is an ideal time for reflection, celebration, and anticipation. This has been a year of growth and resilience, marked by personal achievements and global challenges. As we close this chapter and look toward the future, let’s remember the lessons learned, the progress made, and the potential that lies ahead. Here’s to a brighter and more prosperous new year for all of us. Happy New Year!
