Who is the QCTO and what role do they play?
The QCTO – Quality Council for Trades and Occupations is an organization in South Africa responsible for ensuring the quality of occupational qualifications and skills training. Their main role is to develop, accredit, and oversee occupational qualifications that prepare students for specific careers in various industries. They ensure that the training providers meet high standards and that qualifications are aligned with the needs of employers.
The QCTO also oversees the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) levels for occupational training and ensures that learners gain practical, job-ready skills. This helps employment opportunities within education and training.
For current Legacy Qualifications, ICB performs the task of QAP – Quality Assurance Partner to QCTO. This also means that ICB can only register learners on the Legacy qualification’s as long as QCTO allows.
