Study Further with the ICB

ICB qualifications are modular — you can build on your existing qualification by adding just a few more subjects to earn a second or third ICB qualification.

For example:
Start with Financial Accounting and later add Business Management
Add Office Administration to become an all-rounder

  • NQF Learning Pathway

    Students who enrolled on the NQF pathway before 30 June 2026 may continue to build towards higher NQF-level qualifications with ICB (completion deadline: 30 June 2029).

  • Professional International Certifications

    Students registered on the IQB-endorsed Professional International Certification pathway can continue to grow their skills by registering for further Professional Certificates or Qualifications.

Progress to a Degree

Study further elsewhere and get credit for your ICB qualification.

ICB has partnerships with respected institutions that offer credit for ICB qualifications — helping you progress towards a degree.

Partner institutions currently include:

ACCA — exemptions towards becoming a Chartered Certified Accountant
CIMA — up to 2 subject exemptions with an NQF Level 5 Office Administration qualification, plus progression towards CIMA certifications

Please note: Credit and exemptions are awarded at the discretion of each institution, based on their own policies and your results.

After completing your ICB qualification, you can apply for professional membership with a range of respected bodies — boosting your professional credibility and employability:

SAIT (South African Institute of Taxation)
SAIBA (South African Institute of Business Accountants)
IAB UK (International Association of Bookkeepers)
IAAP UK (International Association of Accounting Professionals)

NQF vs IQB Pathways

What are the two different certification pathways?

  • Students who register from 1 July 2026 onward will follow the IQB pathway, which is internationally recognised but not aligned to the South African NQF framework.
  • Students who register before 30 June 2026 will remain on the NQF pathway and must complete their qualifications by 30 June 2029 as planned.
  • These dates is subject to change by government legislation and are correct as of 12 March 2025.

What Certificates will you get?

  • Professional Certificate — after each subject
  • ICB / IQB Certificate — upon completing the full qualification (recognised locally & internationally)
  • FASSET NQF Qualification Certificate — for students who enrolled on the NQF pathway before 30 June 2026 (final completion: 30 June 2029)
