“I joined the ICB, at the age of 57 in 2013 after I sold my restaurant and became basically unemployed. The reason I wanted to join the ICB was because accounting was something I always wanted to do, even from my days at school, but despite a B Comm degree which I obtained in 1997 through Unisa, I had very little experience. So when someone introduced me to the ICB, I saw an opportunity to obtain a formal qualification which perhaps would assist me to start my own business. I presented my POE to the ICB and they were extremely accommodating, granting me 4 full exemptions and 2 conditional exemptions meaning that I only had to do 6 assessments to progress from JNR Bookkeeper to Technical Financial Accountant.”
“I’ve started in 2014 with my RPL applications and from thereon I started doing the subjects that I still have left.
Nearly finished still struggling with Corporate Strategy. I am now going to start my own business from the 1st of April.”
