Success story: Faith Mashaba
Tuesday, 25 August 2015
My name is Faith Mashaba from Nelspruit. I am a receptionist.
I started my ICB journey last year. I worked in a call centre for five years. I was bored of doing the same thing over and over, so I looked for a different career.
When my boss found out that I was studying, he took me out of the call centre and made me a receptionist, where I now also assist with creditors duties.
I never had accounting in high school, so this is the first time that I'm doing it. I started with Bookkeeping. My lecturer was very helpful and assisted me in understanding the concept of accounting and its calculations.
I now know what things like creditors, age analysis and journals are. I'd like to thank my boss for believing in me. I'm looking foward to achieving my diploma. Thanks to the ICB, I can now understand my work and adapt to it easily. Sometimes I go back to my books and CD for further info and knowledge. The ICB has made me enquire more into the world of accounting.
The ICB is the best avenue to consider. One can have experience in the industry, but if you don't have an ICB qualification, you will not be taken seriously. Go get registered with the ICB. Life is easier with them!
If you're struggling to be an independent student, find an instittute that is ICB-accredited, attend classes, and sacrifice your pleasure. You won't regret it. Ever.
