Dear ICB My name is Sphesihle Khatywa and I've always dreamed of being an accountant. I love working with numbers! In May 2013, I got one step closer to achieving my dream by registering with SACOB for the ICB's Senior Bookkeeper course. I used my savings and my last UIF pay-out.… Read more »

Bursary winner: A letter from Zipho Masilo

Bursary winner: A letter from Zipho Masilo

Dear ICB

I am a hard worker, driven and passionate about my studies. I want to be the first deaf female Chartered Accountant.

I want to be a trendsetter for the deaf community and encourage them to believe that being deaf cannot stop you from reaching your dreams.

Yes, it is not easy. You do get discriminated by most institutions, but it can be done by persistent knocking. A door will surely open as it did for me, thanks to Damelin Benoni and the ICB.

Kind regards,

Zipho

After receiving her bursary, Zipho had this to say...

Dear ICB

This is to thank you for the kind, valuable gift you gave me - awarding me the bursary. It will give my mother a lot of financial relief. I truly feel very privileged and honoured.

Thank you very much for believing in me, investing in me, and helping me to realise my dream. It means so much to me. I will definitely keep you posted about my progress. This encourages me to study harder.

Who knows, maybe in the future I will be teaching accounting to part-time Damelin/ICB deaf students. :)

I am very grateful.

Thank you,

Ziphozintle

And this is what her training provider had to say...

Dear ICB

On behalf of the management and staff of Damelin Benoni, I want to place on record our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the management of ICB for awarding our student a bursary.

Sometimes in life when you have physical challenges and/or disabilities, you feel like the world is caving down on you. But I can assure you for Ziphozinhle it feels like Christmas, you have given her a lifeline and an opportunity to feel worthy. She is very deserving of this gesture and is a committed young lady who makes sacrifices to succeed.

This is indeed a great initiative by the ICB.

Keep up the good work and many thanks.

Regards,
