How do I pay my annual subscriptions?
The ICB will forward you a notice to renew your subscriptions. Upon receipt of this notice, you may effect payment either via EFT or direct deposit into the ICB's bank account. Please forward a copy of your transaction to the ICB via Fax or email and please use your reference number as supplied by the ICB as the reference on your depost. Should you wish to post us your subscriptions, please include a copy of the renewal notice.
What will I receive after paying my membership?
By becoming a member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers, you'll join an international professional body and which is a FASSET accredited Quality Assurance Partner. All our qualifications are registered with SAQA on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). In other words, the ICB is a credible, reputable organisation!
- Our membership certificates and designations let you put those all-important letters after your name - identifying you as a professional bookkeeper, or accountant or small business financial manager or as an office administrator.
- You'll get updates on all the latest news about bookkeeping and other relevant topics.
- You'll get access to membership of the SA Institute of Tax Practitioners, which gives you the right to act as a tax technician.
- You'll get access to membership of the Southern African Institute of Business Accountants where you will be able to register as an Accounting Officer.
- You'll be able to perform the duties of an Commissioner of Oaths.
- ICB membership also gives you the option to register with the International Association of Bookkeepers and the Institute of Financial Accountants our sister professional bodies in the UK - ideal if you're thinking of working overseas after your studies.

How do I maintain my membership with the ICB?
Membership of the ICB is maintained upon payment of annual subscriptions due in January of each year. Once paid, the ICB will re-issue you with a membership certificate which will be valid until the 31 December of the year of payment.
How do I achieve membership?
Membership is awarded to those learners who have successfully completed the relevant learning areas relevant to the designatory level, or by obtaining membership via the Prior learning route.
Learners are required to apply for the membership grade in writing and submitting the required fee.
Do I receive designations from the ICB?
Members of the ICB who have paid annual subscriptions will be entitled to use the designations awarded by the ICB, for example TFAIcb(SA) - Technical Financial Accounting Institute of Certified Bookkeepers.
