How can I become a member of the ICB?

There are various routes to membership of the ICB, and upon becoming a member will entitle you to use the ICB's membership certificates, designations and to receive the benefits of membership as indicated.

The Institute's qualifications have been registered on the National Qualifications Framework and completion of these qualifications will entitle the learner to membership as indicated below:

Assessments are scheduled as per the assessment timetable (44 kB). Learners are required to obtain and read the ICB assessment policy and procedure (352.5 kB).

Exemptions and Recognition of Prior Learning

Learners, who hold equal or higher qualifications from recognised and accredited institutions, may apply for exemptions from the respective learning areas of the qualifications. Learners are required to submit certified copies of subjects passed to the Exemptions Committee. Learners, who have previous work experience, may apply for membership via the RPL route.  Applications are to be accompanied by the prescribe Exemption and RPL fee of R 300.00 per application.

Once the application has been reviewed by the Exemptions Review Board, the ICB will advise the applicant of any exemptions granted and whether any Portfolios need to be completed to prove competence.  All applicable fees due need to be paid prior to the exemptions being activated on the learner profile.

Learnership

The ICB's qualifications are achievable via the learnership route. Learners are required to complete both theory and practical components of the qualifications as indicated in the learnership guidelines.
